Birth and Postpartum Doula Services
Nurturing support for one of the biggest
moments of your life.
You must have heard of the benefits of hiring birth and postpartum doulas to support your experience, and are curious to learn more about how to work with one, what doulas offer, and how doulas can help you have a great experience.
You’ve come to the right place!
My registry of birth doulas and team of postpartum doulas are personally trained and mentored by me, a veteran doula and doula trainer.
Keep scrolling to learn more about me and the dedicated doulas who work with me, and best of all, the ways we can support you!
Hi, I’m Zoë! I spearhead a fantastic
group doula practice.
As you may have learned elsewhere on my site, I’m Zoë Etkin, Memphis’s pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood expert. I’m here to help guide you through this incredible journey, and help you get all the support you need along the way. I train and mentor doulas in the Memphis area, and those doulas work together with me as a team/group practice. We work this way because it gives our clients a better experience, and it allows our doulas to avoid client-overload and burn out. It’s taken me nearly a decade to create this kind of doula practice, and I am so pleased with how we are serving Memphis as a close-knit group.
My registry & team are made up of a diverse group of birth and postpartum doulas who all bring unique strengths and passions to their individual practices. I have had the pleasure of training and mentoring each one, so that their work with my clientele reflects the values and ethos of the work I have been doing for the past ten years.
If you are here, you are most likely expecting, or have possibly just given birth.
You are here because you seek support, education, and guidance that extends and enhances the care you receive from your doctor, midwife, or pediatrician.
You are here because you know that birth and the postpartum period are profound human experiences that deserve reverence, love, joy, and nurturance.
You are here because you want a birth experience that places your sovereignty, autonomy, and power at the center.
You are here because you want to birth in an environment and with a provider and team who honor and respect your right to birth with autonomy.
On the postpartum side, you are here because you want additional practical support or overnight care in partnership with my specialized postpartum package.
Whatever brings you here, welcome! We would be so honored to be a part of your story.
We want to learn all about you, what you are looking for from this experience, and how you believe a birth and/or postpartum doula could best serve you.
During our initial consult with me, I will get a sense of what your specific needs are, and then I will reach out to my birth doula registry and/or postpartum team to see who is available and who I think will be the best fit for your family.
During this consult, I may recommend you switch providers or birthing locations to one of our preferred places/providers. Why? Because our collective experience in the local Memphis birth landscape has shown us which providers and which birthing facilities offer autonomous birth, and which do not. We never want to see clients walking into a situation where trauma is highly likely, and so I will often encourage our clients to switch to providers who have a proven track record of patient centered care. At this time we only recommend the following birthing locations and providers: St. Francis Park with Dr. Michael Podraza or his backup doctor, Regional One with the midwives, Choices Birth Center, or a home birth.
Then, we will get you in touch with the doula(s) so you can meet and decide if you’d like to move forward with them/us.
Birth Doula Services
During your birth, you and your partner deserve the loving, steady presence of a doula.
Your doula will be there to help you navigate the expected and unexpected aspects of birth, bring you comfort and encouragement, and utilize evidence based and embodied strategies to support a smooth and joyful birth experience.
Your doula will support whatever type of birth you desire or need, wherever you choose to bring your baby into the world.
Birth Doula Registry
Our birth doula registry is made up of incredible birth doulas in the Memphis area who have trained with me and received mentorship by me. I place my trust in each one of them to take care of my clients to the fullest degree of care and professionalism. The birth doulas on my registry all work independently of my company, so once you let me know you’d like to meet with them, they will take it from there and handle all of your contracting and payments. I’m just here to point you in their direction.
If you do want to work with me in preparation for your birth, you have a couple of options:
Pregnancy Transformation Coach
Meet with my privately throughout your pregnancy to explore themes of inner transformation, bodily change, relational change, birth related preparations, releasing fear, and learning the nervous system through somatic approaches. Pregnancy coaching can involve partners but does not have to, and does include bodywork when needed/desired. Learn more here.
At this time, only private CBE is available during the workweek, check page for dates for group classes. Join me for a group or private four week childbirth education series that helps prepare you for both the medical and the spiritual aspects of birth, and helps you and your partner plan and prepare for the potentials of the journey. Learn more about it here.

Postpartum Doula Services
After the birth of your baby, you want to feel held, nourished, cared for, and deeply understood.
The postpartum time unfolds as transformation, learning and unlearning, discovery, and profound love.
This precious time is what I am called to support, and I do so in a very unique and skilled way.
I provide expert postpartum care in the first 6 weeks postpartum. I help facilitate your physical and emotional healing, offer education and resources where needed, and not only journey with you, but truly hold you in your process. Note that this service is primarily available in-office and that the in-home version is extremely limited in availability going forward.
It is this focused bodywork, traditional postpartum care, infant care specialization, lactation support, and emotional/spiritual coaching that is the cornerstone of my work; it is what I had been referring to as a postpartum doula+++, but am now proudly calling Early Postpartum Care. Please do read the linked page for a deeper explanation of this work.
If this sounds like it would enhance your postpartum experience, and you would also like more time getting care that includes: meal preparation with postpartum needs in mind; additional postpartum healing support; emotional support and encouragement; newborn care and instruction; lactation and infant feeding support; partner education and support; sibling support; practical household care when needed; and more, then you will love adding on 1 or more day and/or night shifts with my postpartum doula team!
Early Postpartum Care with Zoë
6 weeks of me as your expert postpartum guide, companion, and bodyworker. See Early Postpartum Care page for more information on this service
Add on 1 or more day shifts to your package with one of my postpartum doula team members. Day shifts are 4 hours and can be scheduled morning, mid-day, or afternoon/evening. Day shifts focus on postpartum care, education, meal prep, and practical support.
Add on 1 or more night shifts to your package with one of my postpartum doula team members. Night shifts are 8 hours and are generally available from 10pm-6am. Night shifts focus on maintaining a peaceful, restful environment for parents and baby, with less emphasis on education and practical household support.
With our postpartum care you will receive: me for six weeks, and, depending on how many postpartum doula shifts, and whether you book day shifts, night shifts, or more, one or more of our postpartum doula team members.
